Sharpen Your Instincts
By the fifth grade, Steve Wozniak knew. He just knew. He had won science fairs by building projects with switches and lights. He then focused on building computers. The guy focused on building computers. This was when nobody had thought about computers. He knew computers were his future, his passion, his life.
Today you know that Steve Wozniak, better known as “The Woz,” is the co-founder of Apple Computer. Without him, you wouldn't have those machines that you use every day in your life. He comes from his home in California and travels the world to help people understand ideas, and he gives them guidance about their future. He says…
There is no formula on a spreadsheet to tell you what to do or how to do it. Simply follow what you believe. Do things well, and do them with a sense of high quality, and your innovative idea will take shape.
Here's a lesson from The Woz… Technology, we all know, is a part of our lives. All we have to do is look at what we hold in our hands. Advances in technology seem to happen almost every day. The iPhone, the iPad, the computer, et cetera. But Wozniak doesn't see a downside. He sees it as more opportunities To Create, Connect, And Collaborate with others in ways we could never imagine.
That collaboration, that connection, is sparked by something that really has never changed. Our innate curiosity with the world around us. There's something in all of us, you know. A drive to create new things. We all want to create new things. It's part of our DNA to be purposeful, and meaningful, and contribute, to the world.
So dear friend, on this day, Follow Your Instincts. See what people want and need in their lives. Be open to new ideas, new ways of doing things, and be willing to listen, observe, and learn. Then we'll become builders. We'll become job creators, not job takers, discovering new ways to solve old problems. And you'll realize what I've always come to know… The best opportunities in life come to us disguised as hard work.
Have a great week.
