Be An Actionist
Recently, Daniel Lubetzky taught me a new word… Actionist. He says, “He’s not an optimist, he’s an actionist.” That’s what we all need to be - act upon, not just talk about - what we believe in.
Daniel did, Daniel does. He created the KIND bar, the KIND bar that you see it everywhere in America and the world. You’ve undoubtedly enjoyed or seen the snack bars on the store shelves. It’s a sweet tasting metaphor behind a company Daniel created to inspire people to live a kind life, to be kind to everyone. Kindness doesn’t make you idle, Kindness Is All About Action.
So we all need to reach out, be the change we want to make in the world. It’ll help all of us to understand that ideas are nothing really. Execution, Execution Is Everything. And when you initiate kindness, think about what happens? You pay attention to what is happening around you, and you become more tolerant, more compassionate, more understanding. When you act out kindness, you feel happier, and your world becomes much brighter.
The poet, Maya Angelou, put it this way…
I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.
That makes so much sense. Kindness is encouraged by every major religion and it leads to many virtues we value. We all want to be more kind, more enlightened, and more involved in making a difference in our world. That could happen anywhere, in the smallest of instances where a kind word or a courteous gesture can make all the difference. And in a world where conflict abounds, sadly so, we do need more kindness. It costs nothing really, but the feeling you get in return is priceless.
