Discover Humor Everywhere

I have a recommendation for you today.  Here it is… LAUGH.  For just ten minutes… LAUGH.  Have a good time.  A recent study from Vanderbilt University shows that ten to fifteen minutes of laughter a day can burn fifty calories - that alone is good reason to laugh.  Another study from the University of Maryland discovered a sense of humor can protect you against heart disease.  Imagine that.

So humor can be the medicinal salved to your sole.  Experts on stress point out that a good sense of humor is a strong defense against being overcome by cortisol - the stress hormone.  And what I found is that the person who can laugh often, and who finds humor in even the most stressful events, can keep going when others fail to finish, or fail to even try.

So my friend, find a way to laugh, and include it in your daily routine.  People enjoy being around those who have a good sense of humor.  As the poet Langston Hughes believed… 

“Like a welcome summer rain, humor may suddenly cleanse and cool the earth, the air, and you.”
